Milan Expo 2015 is the Universal Exposition hosted by Italy from 1 May to 31 October, 2015 and is the largest event ever organized on food and nutrition.
The Italian Pavilion project is the upshot of an international design competition won by Expo 2015 S.p.A. in April 2013; out of 68 participating projects, the winner was Nemesis & Partners in conjunction with Proger and BMS for the engineering part, relating to structures and plants, and with Professor Livio De Santoli for building sustainability.
The project extends along the Cardo, one of the two perpendicular thoroughfares, which, together with the Decumano, structured the master plan of Expo Milano 2015.
The Italian Pavilion includes the construction of Palazzo Italia and the temporary Cardo buildings.
The project was characterized by strong experimentation; the Nemesis architecture, characterized by unique projects with focus on technological innovation and sustainable approach, along with the expertise and know-how of Italian companies involved, makes the Italian Pavilion the symbol of the great contemporary creative factory.
